Jamie has over 15 years of hands-on experience on the leading edge of sustainable energy innovation. He returned to Canada in 2015 after 11 years in Australia. He was formerly a Director of EMC, and he served on the boards of an unlisted public company and two non-profits in Australia. His experience centres on engineering and entrepreneurship in microgrids, renewables, energy storage, hydrogen fuel cells, energy efficiency, energy systems analysis, life cycle assessment, life cycle costing and autonomous vehicles. Prior to moving back to Canada, Jamie was a Director and General Manager of Engineering at Energy Made Clean (EMC), a front-end developer, construction company, consultant and engineering service provider for renewable energy generation and efficiency projects. EMC delivered projects in every Australian State and Territory to some of Australia’s largest corporations, all levels of government, and the Department of Defence. In 2016 EMC was acquired by Carnegie Clean Energy, an Australian public company, for ~$18M. Prior to that, Jamie was a Systems Engineer at Ballard Power Systems in Vancouver, and took the opportunity to relocate to Australia in 2004 as the on-site engineer for the Mercedes-Benz/Ecobus Perth hydrogen fuel cell bus project. Jamie holds a degree in Mechanical Engineering (Mechatronics) from the University of Waterloo in Canada, and a PhD in Engineering from Murdoch University in Western Australia. He is a registered professional engineer (P.Eng) in Canada, was formerly a Chartered Engineer and NPER in Australia. He is a Notary Public and a Commercial Pilot. Jamie has delivered many lectures and seminars on energy technologies. He has published articles in the Journal of Power Sources, Energy Policy, the International Journal of Hydrogen Energy, Renewable and Sustainable Energy Reviews, and he is a peer-reviewer for several energy-related journals
